Dans SEARCHING FOR WINNETOU, Drew Hayden Taylor explore la controverse entourant l’appropriation culturelle de la culture autochtone en Europe germanophone – avec humour et non sans empathie. Le titre du documentaire est un clin d’œil à l’auteur du XIXe siècle Karl May et à sa série de romans WINNETOU, qui a suscité la fascination des Allemands pour les peuples des Premières nations.
Drew Hayden Taylor est un dramaturge Ojibwé primé, originaire des Premières Nations de Curve Lake, dans le centre de l’Ontario. Journaliste, nouvelliste, romancier et cinéaste, il s’emploie depuis plus de deux décennies à explorer et à documenter l’expérience autochtone. https://www.drewhaydentaylor.com/
La projection du film (45 minutes, ENG O.V.) sera suivie d’une séance de questions-réponses, animée par Isabelle Poupart, Chargée d’affaires a.i. du Canada en Allemagne.

Les portes ouvriront à 16 h 30.
Tous les participants doivent effectuer un autotest rapide à l’antigène COVID-19 (dans les dernières 24 heures) OU un test PCR (dans les dernières 48 heures). Il vous sera demandé d’auto-certifier le résultat négatif du test lors de l’enregistrement. Le port du masque (FFP2 ou chirurgical) est obligatoire pour entrer et se déplacer dans les espaces publics, jusqu’à ce que vous soyez assis, ou à chaque fois que de la nourriture et des boissons sont servies.

The title of the documentary refers to the 19th century author Karl May and his series of WINNETOU novels, which sparked German fascination with First Nations peoples.
Drew Hayden Taylor is an Ojibway award-winning playwright from the Curve Lake First Nations, in Central Ontario. As journalist, short-story writer, novelist, and filmmaker, he has worked over two decades on exploring and documenting the Native experience. https://www.drewhaydentaylor.com/
The film screening (45 minutes, ENG O.V.) will be followed by Q&A session, moderated by Isabelle Poupart, Chargée d’affaires a.i. of Canada to Germany.

Doors open at 4:30 pm.
All attendees are required to perform a COVID-19 rapid antigen self-test (within the last 24 hours) OR a PCR test (within the last 48 hours). You will be asked to self-certify your negative test result upon check-in. Masks (either FFP2 or surgical) must be worn upon entering and moving through the public spaces until seated or anytime food and drinks are served.
